Pingu

Not to be confused with the cute TV star of the same name, our Pingu is a constant reminder to stretch the way we think and embrace change.  As you can see from his various travels, he is more than happy being outside his comfort zone and continually encourages us to be the same!

Typically changing Pingu wisdom; "I don't have to do be excellent at everything... I just need to know and work with people who are great at the bits I don't like doing!"

Kevin Baughen

Kevin is serious about generating and implementing ideas that genuinely work in not for profit organisations.  This passion is matched only by a belief that the best ideas can be ruined by over-complication and ineffective execution.

His current credo is that "successful fundraising and campaigning should be at the heart of our activities.  Marketing and communications are simply a means to that end.  Not an overhead and certainly not an end in themselves.  Just tools to help you deliver these really important objectives."

And he should know, having spent the last 15 years generating ideas and turning them into results for major blue chip organisations, small businesses and major UK charities across a wide variety of marketing and communications projects.  These include: HSBC, Arthritis Care, Norwich Union, British Heart Foundation, SHL, the Institute of Cancer Research, Cleversquirrel and havco.

Prior to founding Bottom Line Ideas, Kevin started his career as a Marketing Executive and most recently held the position of Vice President of Marketing for SHL.  Thanks to his progression through these roles he is equally comfortable working informally with small teams or accountable to Board members.  A fact appreciated by several clients for which Kevin jumps from facilitating working sessions with front line staff to presenting findings to the Board on the same day.

Having gained a joint Honours degree in Business Studies and IT from the University of Kent, Kevin contemplated a career as a professional rugby player but lack of height (and talent) meant that he was able to go on to earn various marketing and professional qualifications as well as win various industry marketing awards.  Motivated by the need to further develop strategic skills to add to his operational experience, Kevin completed an Executive MBA in 2005, earning a distinction.

Kevin volunteers as a speaker for Cancer Research UK, is a regular contributor to UK Fundraising's guest articles and blogs and is a member of the Institute of Fundraising and of The Charity Place.
